Some people know what they want, and have thicker skin than me. WAY thicker.
Super free-agent Cliff Lee, whom the Phillies spurned (hard) less than a year ago by shipping him off in a trade to the Mariners for 3 prospects, signed a 5-year deal with the Phils Monday night, for $120 million.
This guy is a former Cy Young award winner (2008), and almost single-handedly led the Phils through the post-season in 2009, giving up just seven earned runs in 40+ innings. He supposedly turned away longer-term deals from both the Yankees ($140+ million, 7 years) and Rangers ($120 million, 6 years) to sign with Philly, an area that both he and his wife really enjoyed living during their stay in '09.
I'm just surprised he went back there after they dealt him. Surprised, and pleased that he didn't go to the Yankees, where he would most likely kick the O's ass on a regular basis. I feel bad for Nolan Ryan and the Rangers, though.
